Kara, the wiggly little rat terrier

10151477237821826I would like to introduce you to Kara,a young rat terrier, in search  of a family that will LOVE  her forever, giving her the life she deserves. Six days go,  received a desperate call for help from a fellow rescuer and animal advocate in neighboring Walker county, Alabama.  Apparently, Kara had been abused by her current owner. The owner handed her off to family members,  warning them that if she did  not go she would be used for “target practice.”  In  tears and begging for this dogs life, this caring rescuer drove in the middle  of the night, to get this young, deserving terrier to a safe place.

Named after her rescuer, Kara is approximately 6 months old. She appears to be a bit shy at first, especially with men.Our initial eval confirmed our fears. Kara does have some orthopedic issues. Friday, 2/15 we visited Hope Animal Clinic where we found that Kara’s spine and pelvis appear to  in very good shape, despite the obvious trouble Kara has getting around. So, for now we are following Dr. Martin’s plan which consists of 4-6 weeks of meds and crate rest. If Kara shows improvement, we will know she suffers from trauma to her spine. If no improvement, Kara more than likely has a congenital problem.

Kara is a sweet, loving little girl. She gets along with other animals, even cats. Kara would lo v e to have a family that would keep her always, one that is dedicated to making that commitment.

Soon Kara will be spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and will come with a  trial offer of pet insurance.

If Kara sounds as if she may be  good fit for your family, please go to our petfinder right way and submit your adoption. Kara will make an excellent companion!
